Engage in Art: Public Art Showcase by Older People in West Belfast

The Upper Springfield Development Trust Arts Unit organised a Temporary Public Art Showcase at the Andersonstown Barracks Site.

This colourful and meaningful display gave older people a voice to creatively convey messages on social issues which affect their everyday lives. Paul Maskey, MP for West Belfast, officially launched the project.

A book of local stories and images was produced with foreward written by Gerry Adams.
Those interviewed include Kitty McCoy, Rosaleen Clarke, Margaret Robinson. Olivia Nash, Kay Shortt, Charlotte Bosanquet, Joy Gray, Pam Brighton, Taresa Irving, Sally McMahon, Julie Millar, Deirdre Mackel.

Thanks to The Upper Springfield Development Trust. mFunded by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Arts and Older People’s programme. Completed in 2011.
